Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Short version: AudioVault collects no data. Zero. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Overview

AudioVault ("the app") is a personal audiobook player for Android. This privacy policy describes how the app handles your information. The answer is simple: it doesn't.

Data collection

AudioVault does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. The app has no analytics, no tracking, no crash reporting, and no third-party SDKs that collect information about you or your device.

What stays on your device

The following information is stored locally on your device only, using Android's DataStore:

— Your profile name (default: "Listener")
— Your server address (if using Server mode)
— Your selected storage mode (Local or Server)
— Your last played book and playback position
— Your theme preference (System / Light / Dark)

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server controlled by the developer.

Server mode

If you use Server mode, the app connects to a server address that you provide and you control. This is typically a device on your home network (e.g. a Raspberry Pi). The developer has no access to your server, your files, or any data transmitted between the app and your server.

Permissions

The app requests the following Android permissions:

Storage access — to read audiobook files from a folder you select (Local Storage mode only)
Internet — to connect to your home server (Server mode only)
Foreground service — to continue audio playback while the screen is off

No permission is used for any purpose beyond its stated function.

Children's privacy

AudioVault does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Since no data is collected at all, there is nothing specific to children's privacy to address.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change, this page will be updated. The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised.
